Many have been dealing with varicose veins for years, thinking there was nothing they could do except shrug their shoulders and suffer in silence. But safe, affordable, NON-SURGICAL solutions do exist. You’ll need to find out from a vein specialist just what solutions are suitable for your situation. At Rosen Vein Care, our varicose vein and spider vein treatment clinic located in the Chicago and North Shore area, we offer non-surgical vein treatments that can help deal with troubling varicose veins and spider veins. Choose Sclerotherapy Sclerotherapy can be a highly effective way of dealing with varicose veins. You can choose sclerotherapy that injects foam or another type of medication into those problematic veins in order to seal them. Eventually, they will be absorbed by your body and fade away. Consider Endovenous Laser Ablation Another non-surgical vein treatment option, endovenous laser ablation, involves the use of a specialized laser to safely, effectively and permanently heat-seal problematic veins shut. The veins are sealed without causing any damage to your skin or surrounding tissues by using ultrasound-guidance and local anesthetic only: sedation is never required. New, State-of the-Art Techniques The latest and likely most comfortable treatments do not require heat to permanently seal problematic veins. Clarivein® as well as VenaSeal® are the latest options available to deal with underlying problematic vein flow within superficial lower extremity veins. Those large veins, having a rope-like shape, and appearing on the surface of legs are called varicose veins. These veins can crop up on you slowly but steadily over years if left untreated. It could make you feel self-conscious, causing you to hide your legs all of the time. Pain is another problem that may go hand in hand with large veins. As the blood collects in problematic veins, they begin to bulge. This can make your legs ache and feel heavy. Rest and compression stockings could be recommended to help you deal with these annoying veins, but you may need minimally-invasive, safe, and effective treatments including Endovenous Laser Ablation, Clarivein® or ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy injections. How Do Ultrasound-Guided Injections Work? Using injections is a minimally-invasive, maximally-comfortable form of treatment for problematic superficial veins. Also known as sclerotherapy, it involves the use of safe, effective chemicals that are injected into the vein to seal it permanently. Once this happens, the large veins will gradually fade from sight over the course of weeks to months. An ultrasound device can be used to help our vein specialist Dr. Rosen to pinpoint the precise location for your injections. Typically, ultrasound guidance is not required, but can be useful in helping to treat the source of varicose veins beneath the surface. Why Choose Ultrasound-Guided Injections? Ultrasound-guided injections offer you a safe, affordable, and effective way to treat your varicose veins with a method that is minimally invasive. You won’t need to endure a hospital stay, or a lengthy recovery. Most importantly, you can rest assured knowing Dr. Rosen has your interests in mind and will provide expert care as he gets to the source of your varicose veins. Once your treatment is over, you will be advised to wear compression stockings in the days that follow your procedure. Compression stockings and walking will help you to promote healthy circulation in your legs. VenaSeal® is an effective treatment for chronic superficial venous insufficiency, the underlying cause of many varicose veins. VenaSeal® uses a state-of-the-art medical glue to seal those veins that have improper blood flow. It has been approved by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) and is a safe, minimally-invasive procedure. The varicose vein treatment involves the insertion of a small catheter into the affected vein. A small amount of the VenaSeal® Medical Glue is then gradually released into the vein under ultrasound guidance. The glue causes the vein to close, and the blood to be instantly rerouted through healthier veins. Patients can return to their daily activities after the treatment. When you visit Dr. Rosen, a board-certified vein specialist, feel free to ask more about VenaSeal®. In fact, over an hour of time is reserved for your initial consultation with Dr. Rosen, so you can ask as many questions as you like! Varicose veins in the legs are typically caused by blood that is not moving properly back to the heart. Instead of moving upwards in a one-way direction, the blood pools in the veins under the force of gravity. When you have a VenaSeal® procedure, you may expect: Dr. Rosen may take an ultrasound to map out the affected vein A local anesthetic may be applied to a small area of your lower leg Using a special applicator, the medical glue is inserted into the vein through a specialized IV catheter There is no down time: you will be encouraged to walk after the procedure and can resume work and most other normal daily activities immediately. Dr. Rosen advises keeping active every day to help maintain good circulation. It is not recommended to stand for long periods, so if you have a job that requires it, make sure you find some time to “take a load off.” Sit during your breaks. If your varicose veins are affecting you physically or emotionally, Rosen Vein Care has treatment options available. Our goal is to empower you with knowledge to be able to make the best, informed decisions for your treatment. Our vein clinic […]
I strive for excellence; to improve upon the care I offer my patients each day. To search out new treatments and techniques that may offer great results with less discomfort. Clarivein® seems to do just that. ClariVein® is a minimally-invasive treatment for venous insufficiency: the underlying issue that leads, in many cases, to chronic leg discomfort and varicose veins. With the assistance of ultrasound guidance, a special rotating device is used to inject a chemical solution that leads to closure of malfunctioning superficial veins. This is truly state-of-the-art vein care. Unlike endovenous laser ablation (EVLA, EVLT®) or radiofrequency ablation, no heat is required for vein closure. No heat means that virtually no anesthesia is required and the procedure remains essentially pain-free! The results are pretty comparable to the other, older procedures without the discomfort associated with the placement of tumescent local anesthesia. Patients on whom I’ve performed the procedure all say the same thing: you feel that something is happening, but it’s not painful. Though I reserve 90 minutes for each procedure, the actual closure time is only a few minutes. So…why all that extra time? Welcome to Rosen Vein Care: I care about every patient’s experience. There is no rushing through things. I care deeply about making sure that I have explained things to my patients and answered every question before doing any procedure. This isn’t “assembly line medicine”. This is what patient care is supposed to be for all of us…and THAT is my guiding principle….my medical “golden rule”, if you will: Treat unto others as I would want to be treated. I do everything I can to make Rosen Vein Care the best place for varicose vein treatments and spider vein treatments in Chicago and its suburbs! Once the Clarivein® procedure is over, some gauze and tape are placed on the leg. Compression stockings are also placed and are worn daily for a few weeks. There are few activity restrictions. In fact, I encourage patients to be more active…to walk…get out there and enjoy all of the beautiful things to see around Chicago and the suburbs! The […]
